Erasmus+ PULSE Project Strengthens Entrepreneurial Skills in North African VET Through Study Visit in Morocco

Benguerir, Morocco | 14–19 December 2025
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) hosted an international study visit and innovative training week within the framework of the Erasmus+ PULSE project, bringing together vocational education and training (VET) professionals from Morocco, Tunisia, and Libya. The activity aimed to strengthen entrepreneurial, innovation, and green skills among VET teachers and trainers, reinforcing their role as key agents of change in their institutions.

The study visit responded to the growing need for practice-oriented, future-ready skills in VET systems, particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability. Through a combination of hands-on training, study visits, and peer exchange, participants explored how education can be more closely aligned with labour market needs and regional socio-economic priorities.

Learning from UM6P’s Innovation Ecosystem

Throughout the week, participants were immersed in UM6P’s dynamic innovation ecosystem, which integrates education, research, and entrepreneurship. Study visits to STARTGATE, 1337 Coding School, the FABLAB, TECHNIX, and the UM6P Experimental Farm provided concrete examples of how innovative infrastructures can support skills development and applied learning.

These visits highlighted the importance of experiential learning environments, where learners are encouraged to experiment, prototype, and collaborate on real-world challenges. Participants gained first-hand insight into how such models can be adapted and transferred to their own VET contexts.

From Entrepreneurial Mindset to Sustainable Business Models

The training programme followed a progressive learning path, starting with the development of an entrepreneurial mindset and moving towards practical tools and methodologies for entrepreneurship education in VET.

Key topics included:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset development and the EntreComp framework
  • Lean Startup principles and customer validation
  • Business Model Canvas and Lean Canvas methodologies
  • Management of Smart Labs and innovation spaces
  • Green entrepreneurship and sustainable value propositions

Interactive workshops encouraged participants to apply these tools directly, ensuring their immediate relevance for teaching and institutional implementation.

Peer Learning and International Cooperation

Beyond technical skills, the study visit placed strong emphasis on peer learning and international exchange. Round table discussions and partner presentations created space for sharing best practices, discussing challenges faced by VET systems in the region, and identifying opportunities for future collaboration.

This exchange strengthened professional networks among North African VET actors and reinforced the added value of international cooperation supported by the Erasmus+ programme.

Cultural Exchange and Closing Activities

The programme also included a cultural visit to Marrakech, offering participants the opportunity to experience Morocco’s cultural heritage while continuing informal exchanges and networking.

The study visit concluded with a closing event, during which participants shared country-level best practices and reflected on key lessons learned. A certificate ceremony marked the successful completion of the activity and celebrated participants’ engagement and commitment.

A Lasting Impact for VET Systems

The Erasmus+ PULSE study visit in Morocco demonstrated the strong impact of combining training, innovation ecosystems, and international cooperation. Participants left with practical tools, new professional connections, and renewed motivation to integrate entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability into their VET institutions.

By empowering VET educators as multipliers of change, the PULSE project continues to contribute to the modernisation of vocational education and training systems and to the development of skills aligned with today’s and tomorrow’s labour markets.
